Last weekend on August 15 and 16 marked the final runs for the Northern Explorer with a DFB on the head. So I went out to get a couple of photos of the final runs. Here are my photos of the final run on 200 on the Sunday. Photo locations are Huntly, Drury, The Strand and one final shot back in Westfield yard to mark the end of an era.

Last weekend on August 15 and 16 marked the final runs for the Northern Explorer with a DFB on the head. So I went out to get a couple of photos of the final runs. Here are my photos from the final 201 on Saturday as the train headed south. Photos taken in Drury, Mercer and Taupiri.

I have been a bit busy lately so havent posted much on here. Heres a couple photos from earlier this week of the Northern Explorer going over McDonald Rd in Pokeno in the late evening light. Just about any day now the DFB's will be gone and a DL will be running this train.

Cajon Pass is a very busy railroad location between San Bernadino and Barstow in California. With roughly 90 trains a day passing through the area you dont have to wait long to see some action.

BNSF operate 3 main lines on the pass where the gradient gets up to 3% in some areas which for a train is very steep. Union Pacific also operates a mainline which runs parallel to BNSF in most areas. Union Pacific trains will also appear on the BNSF tracks from time to time as well.

I took these photos across 2 trips to the area in 2019 and in 2025. Some areas you need an off road vehicle to be able to reach which I did not have, but theres still plenty of places you can visit with just a car.

Another fleet I have been lucky enough to photograph a few times over the years is Northchill Group Ltd. These are trucks that drivers have taken the time to park up for me to get a few photos. Everyone in the company I have dealt with has always been happy to help and are always very friendly.
A big thank you in particular must go to Toby (he runs under the Ontour Logistics Limited side) who has helped with a large majority of these photos. Another fleet I have been lucky enough to photograph a few times over the years is Northchill Group Ltd/ Graham Redington. The Retko Kenworth T604 was one of my favourites which I didnt realise until recently ran under the Northchill name.

Owens Tankers (and their many previous names) is a fleet I have spent a lot of time around since I was a little kid. So I thought I would put together some photos I have taken since I was a little kid with a film camera right up to now.

The third and final group of images from 2015 up to today are dominated by 2 trucks in particular, a Mack Trident and Kenworth T610 SAR. The fleet is now made up of 1 Kenworth and a group of MAN's (which I dont seem to have many photos of)

Owens Tankers (and their many previous names) is a fleet I have spent a lot of time around since I was a little kid. So I thought I would put together some photos I have taken since I was a little kid with a film camera right up to now.

The second group of images. These are from about 2008 when I bought my first decent digital camera and go through to 2014. The Mack CH's slowly disappear and get replaced with other trucks during this time
