Some highlights from Round 5 of Night Speed Drag Wars of the 2025/2026 season.
It is always a good time catching up with friends and seeing everyone give it a good send down the quarter mile.
Good mix of variety in photos for this small set, with a special clip at the start of the post, filmed with a drone which is fun to use at the drags and shows y'all a unique angle of the racing.

1st January, 2026.
This was the 1st ride of the year for me, although I was driving to take some photos of my friends since we were out of auckland with some nice roads and spots around.
This was a good opportunity to use the lens I had just picked up, 70-200 F4. Having nice shallow-looking bokeh at those zoomed in focal lengths felt and looked really nice.

This is the type of photo work that makes me want to achieve success in life so I can afford to travel around and photograph cool people with their cool vehicles (bikes, cars, boats, trucks, tractors etc) because that would be a good trade for everyone involved; great photos and memories for the people infront of camera, exploration of the country and good work for me. One day. For now, dreams are free.

Hello everyone.
I'm all over the place mentally, but one of the things I need to do more of is posting the work I capture for y'all to see. I finished 2025 without taking any photos for a few days, and 2026 started off with taking photos on the 1st day. Photos from that day I'll share a bit later. For now, here are some photos from a race car test day i briefly showed up to on January 3rd at Hampton downs. The turnout was fairly low due to the new year holidays and another racing event taking place at Taupo racetrack the same weekend, I got told about 32 entrants on the day. Because the weather forecast wasn't great, not many drivers remained at the track by the time I got there, but it was nice to capture those who stayed. The photos are a mix of dry and wet conditions. I always enjoy seeing the photos in the rain because of all the water spray that comes off the cars during driving.
If you've read this far, maybe comment with which car photo do you like and maybe why, id be keen to know.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. Regardless of 2025 being good or bad for you, im hoping 2026 will be a nice year for y'all.

Hello. I want to share with y'all a clip im proud of.
Last weekend TACCOC (thoroughbred and classic car owners club) hosted 2nd round of their racing series at hampton downs. As part of the event, one of the racing classes was 'Historic Muscle & Sallon Cars', which has some really cool cars in it, like the 1970 Chevy Camaro im showing to you today. According to the driver, Glenn, it makes a lot of power, which, more often than not, forces it to go sideways. Everytime he does that, i love to see it, and I hope y'all do too!

1: friends together celebrating the win and successful completion of the 1 hour endurance race. was in significant pain in his leg pushing in the race that resulted in him getting the win by -0.005 seconds!

Hello. A few flamin' hot highlights from today.
Race car test day at before NZIGP season opener 2 days of racing this weekend. Apparently, 230 entries for the weekend of racing, which is exciting. It will be really busy trying to document the day.
From today, I wanted to share some photos of fire for y'all. Rotaties like Mazda RX8s are somewhat easy to get a fire shot of, the TA2 cars on the other hand are a lot harder to get a photo of flame popping though, took about a handful of attempts per car on my side, as the flames coming out of TA2 cars are a lot more unpredictable. The challenge was fun because I managed to get some shots.

Some highlights from T7 of this past weekend from race bike test day hosted by .sharp19 of . This was a good day.
Just wanted to show some cool racebikes coming out of a tight left hand turn thats almost a hairpin, with the riders standing their bikes up slightly before setting up for a faster left hand turn that requires significant dangle off the bike to carry the speed through turn 8.

Let me know which race bike of this selection you like and why in the comments please, id love to know y'alls opinions :)

Hello.
Filming in the rain is difficult, but, its so much fun! It's mostly difficult because I don't have much of rain protection for myself or the gear lol, im getting more overtime :)

Here is a short clip of a very nice looking Mazda RX7 parked up in the paddock at the end of a testing day.
Not too much to say. It was a nice car, in not great weather conditions but it looked really good, so, for the sake of some basic filming and editing practice, I captured this clip. Anything motorsport and racing-adjacent looks really good in my opinion, so i try to capture it.

Tried manually editing the style that you see on Instagram reels where its a horizontal video uploaded in vertical spec, but normally its the video itself being played stretched behind the main frame. In my case, I just chose of a photo of the same RX7 on track and blurred that, as a 1st step to learning this type of editing.

It's basic, but, i hope y'all like it.

Hello. Yesterday was a good day to go and watch motocross racing. put on a great show with their 7th round of the Wildman series.
It is always busy with lots of riders turning up for the fun. Weather was on our side for almost the whole day. It started off a bit cold with chilly wind for about the 1st hour, after that it remained consistently overcast, which makes for a nice time of taking photos. The need to change settings is minimal, which makes it easier to capture as much action and as many riders as possible!
These shots are a small feature of portrait (vertical) aspect shots i liked, hence the mixture of jumps and corner digs from the day.
