Clichè New Year post, with a not so common spider that graced us with her presence on New Year's Eve.

This is a female two-spined orb weaver, a beautiful wee gal who creates the most stunning round symmetrical webs, and hangs patiently upside down in the centre, waiting for her opportunities.

Spiders are by far my favourite subject to photograph. They create their own successes by way of the intricate web they build, the resilience to rebuild if their hard work is destroyed by circumstances outside of their control, and the patience to wait until the most opportune moment to strike. I'll definitely be taking notes from the humble spider in 2020.

Here's to a new year, a new decade, and new opportunities!

We were in Taupo today, joining NZMRD - New Zealand Men's Roller Derby for their weekend training.

Winter sure did bring down a case of the winter blues, it's been a few weeks of really putting my head down and soldiering on.

So thankful for spring, the sunshine, and the world of opportunity that comes with it. Time to get back out there and explore again.

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity today to spend some time with the NZMRD - New Zealand Men's Roller Derby Team in Kawerau, as they train for the World Cup next year.

What a super talented group of people! I am inspired by your skill, grit and determination.
