I am originally form Aberdeen, Scotland and 8 years ago I moved to New Zealand. I have some early memories of cameras with little flash cubes you attached to them, and other little rectangular cameras with pump action frame advance! All sorts of childlike cameras, then on a family holiday in my very early teens I bought my first SLR, unfortunately I was ripped off and it was a cheap piece of plast
ic that never worked. During my teens with part time jobs I saved up and finally got a real SLR, An Olympus OM10 !!! It was an amazing camera, it was then I truly fell in love with photography, I read lots of books on the subject and tried all sorts of camera techniques and grasped the basic concepts of exposure quickly. I also was motivated by a friend of my mothers son, "Mike Hudson", an amazing Rock/Metal photographer. I used the OM10 for years, it came with me to Russia, Cypress & Egypt. The OM10 was also the first experience of a major camera error and the loss of a whole roll of film, very upsetting, it happened after the museum in Cairo where my dad paid off a security guard for me to take a picture of Tutankhamun's Mask and other awesome items, and after more pyramid shots. I had to open the camera and rip the film out, probably my worst photography disaster! In my early 20's I started working full time for a newly started photography company, "Flash Photography". Back in the good old days of Film! I worked in the dark room and was assistant to the Photographer. I gained lots of developing experience and photography experience assisting at Schools, University and studio photography. ......to be continued
