Hotshoe Reflex

Hotshoe Reflex I just love anything photography related. I am an keen armature photographer and collector.

If I get a vintage camera i love to respectfully clean & restore it, and take it out for a test run....if I can still find film for it.

Picked up this camera a couple of weeks go.

Leningrad 35mm rangefinder camera made by Gosularstvennyi Optiko-Mekhanicheskii Zavod (GOMZ for short) between the years of 1956 and 1968. The Leningrad is named after the city of the same name (now St. Petersburg) which GOMZ was based out of. It is considered by many to be the most advanced and ambitious of all Soviet made rangefinders. Featuring a wind-up clockwork film advance, it can shoot up to 20 exposures on a single wind of the large k**b on top of the camera.

Just cleaned this old Kodak up that I bought from a charity shop. Funny thing they didn't know how to open it so had never seen inside.
It was covered in dust but the leather bellows cleaned up beautifully.

Very early folding camera. Maker unknown as with most of these very early ones. You can tell it’s early from the bellows which have square ends.
Check out restoration photos from start to finish.

Currently working on this old Rochester Optical Premo Camera. Bought cheaply as it was in such a bad state. The lens isn't original to the camera sadly. Its coming along nicely.

Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted.
Picked up this old, crusty and literally falling apart drop plate camera for just $25 that many would have put in the bin. Stripped it down and polished it up and fitted with a period lens.
Looks much better now. 😁

This weekends project is a Gundlach Optical Company Korona Series IV camera which was manufactured around 1902.
I'd had the body of the camera for a couple of years but it was missing a lens. This lens came up for sale last week as non working, but with a bit if love it's up and running again. Just need to fix the back now and I'll post some images of the finished item.

Been wanting to try out this little Mecaflex for a while. Finally got out today to take some photographs. Also got luck and managed to stumble upon a classic car meet.

We took a couple of cameras out today and got some decent results, even stumbled upon a vintage car show and found a 1938 car to photograph.
Zeiss Ikon Tenax 1 from 1938. Quite a simple camera with top viewer and a funky winding lever on the right hand side. Fun trying to guess the distance on these as cameras.

New toy 🥰 Always wanted one and finally got one. Can't wait to get a film through it.
Due to the fact that you can't buy 620 film anymore I have to work out the best method to be able to get a film in it.
There are two different methods.
Method 1: re-roll a 120 roll onto a 620 spool in complete darkness. Might take a wee bit of practice with a test film.
Or modifying the 120 spool so it fits into the 620 holder. Should be fun!
