Round 2 โ Vic Club / North Island Cup
Qualifying:
Conditions were trickyโnot fully dry, but not really wet . I chose to go with a dry setup, which turned out to be the wrong call. It was a good learning curve getting back onto the big track and finding the available grip. After a slow start, I Qualified P16.
Race 1:
Heading into my first race start on the bike, I wasnโt sure what to expect, but got a solid launch. From there, I focused on improving corner speed and refining my lines. Finished P13 in Intermediate Trophy and P7 in Pro Twins.
Race 2:
Another strong start, and I began to feel more comfortable and confident on the bike. Still adjusting to line choice compared to Supermoto, but making progress. Finished P12 overall and P6 in class.
Race 3:
Had a small hiccup off the start with an unexpected wheelie, but managed to recover and make up positions into Turn 1. Had some great battles throughout the race, finishing P13 overall and P7 in class.
Race 4:
We made a small setup adjustment before the race, which paid off. Got a solid start and felt much more comfortable, continuing to improve lines and corner speed. Had a strong battle and set a new PB of 1:17.200, finishing P10 overall and P5 in class.
After Race 4, we discovered an oil leak at the rear of the engine. We cleaned it up, but unfortunately it worsened on the out lap of the final race, forcing us to retire .
Overall:
Really happy with the progress across the day. Plenty learned, and still a lot to improve on moving forward.
