North Otago Pony Club
Bit of a horse race today, started off full of gusto, great inital run, drenched coming along the main straight and flagging at the finish!
First time we have ventured down to Oamaru for the ODE and what a fabulous area to hold an event!
Well done to NOPC on a well run event, despite fairly consistent moisture.
I tried to get most of the three rings over the course of the dressage, ducking under oak trees with emerging leaves for the most part.
The Show jumping, only managed a bit of the 95cm class as had to head to the fence judges briefing which was brought forward and then toodled out to my jumps on Cross country.
The rain intensified, as did the feeling of dread as to whether my camera wanted to quietly slip away to 'I don't want to work anymore land'. We managed to box on though, soggy fence judging pages, two broken pencils and a thorough soaking with possibly a hint of hypothermia starting, all made for a memorable day! We are actually a bit crazy!
Saying that, we love it and these days only make you really appreciate the sunny ones!
I still noticed smiles as soaked, squinting riders galloped past on saturated, dripping horses and hopefully most of you got a photo somewhere over the course of the day.
