THE RED UMBRELLA
I don’t usually include people in my landscape images and this is because I like the images to speak for themselves and reflect my time away from civilization and all the hustle and chaos that goes with city living. Here I had an unexpected model, thanks to a club workshop I was holding in the area. I’m not sure if this person knew that this image was taken or not, but a huge thank you for showing the scale of these land formations.

SWIMMING WITH THE FISHES
My partner loves fishing (as do I) and often goes off for a few hours when he gets the chance. On this occasion I managed to catch him before he filleted this fish so that I could photograph it as an element in my composite images. Usually, he got home without me hearing so all I got to see was the cut-up evidence. Not helpful for my creative process!

I absolutely love it when my favourite landscape photography haunts are appreciated as they were in this case. Many of our attendees find that this special area of Central Otago gets under your skin and in your veins. It is tourist free and little known, which is why it appeals to so many people, myself included. Why not come and join us and see what all the fuss is about!
