🚂 Manukau Live Steamers 40th Anniversary 🚂

Last weekend we headed out to the Manukau Live Steamers Inc. to celebrate their 40th Anniversary over King’s Birthday weekend.

We were blown away by the amazing model steam engines and the passion of everyone involved. It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying rides around the park, surrounded by beautiful winter colours and carpets of autumn leaves.

The steam, the smiles, and the incredible attention to detail on these miniature locomotives made for a truly memorable day.

A big congratulations to the Manukau Live Steamers on reaching this milestone, and thank you for putting on such a wonderful event for the community.

The supermarket was the destination.

The photographs were the reward.

Autumn painted the streets gold, and a turquoise Cadillac reminded me that great subjects often appear when you’re simply paying attention.

Sometimes the best photographs aren’t found on planned adventures—they’re waiting on an ordinary walk to the supermarket.

What a way to close out the NZIGP season at Hampton Downs. 🌅🏁

Sunday delivered another epic day of racing, with close battles, fast cars, and an awesome crowd atmosphere right through to the final sessions on track. After an action-packed weekend, the season finale definitely went out in style.

And to top it all off… we were treated to one unreal Waikato sunrise to kick off the morning. 🌄🔥
Moments like this remind you why motorsport weekends are so special.

Massive thanks to everyone who came out across the weekend — competitors, crews, officials, and fans — for making it such an awesome event from start to finish. 👏📸

Wow what a start to the weekend! ☀️🏁
The Waikato turned on an incredible day for racing as we headed to Hampton Downs for the NZIGP season finale. Huge variety of cars, nonstop action on track, and plenty of competition across the categories made for an epic atmosphere all day long.

And we’re not done yet… who’s coming out tomorrow for another big day of racing? 👀🔥 Come trackside and be part of the action! 🚗💨

Awesome racing and the perfect weather to wrap up the season in style.

Saturday morning, the light caught something I almost missed — hundreds of spider webs drifting through the air, each one carrying something small into the unknown.

It was Anzac Day. A day of remembrance, of those carried far from home by forces bigger than themselves.

Watching those threads float felt like a quiet reminder — how fragile things can be, and how far they can travel. How stories, like those webs, don’t just disappear… they move, they settle, they carry on.

Lest we forget.

With Rally Otago’s 50th anniversary done and dusted for another year, figured it was a good excuse to dig into the archives.

Some shots from the HVRA crew out at NZIGP – Legends of Speed. Proper 60s & 70s race cars, getting driven how they should be… loud, sideways, and giving it everything.

None of the modern fluff — just raw, old-school racing at its best.
