We were drawn to the graduated tone in the sky that moves between pink and dusty peach and the imperfection around its ruffled edges, this image was a reminder of the mystery of the ocean

Holding a beauty that is without formula, existing beyond easy definition or the bounds of man made constructs

No matter how fancy the photography it all boils down to shapes and shades... that's why minimalist photos always capture my eye.
It's the balance between the obscure and the obvious. The essence of a thing. Not too much or too little, just enough .

The 31st of March, the end of the 3rd month of 2022, the end of the financial year but more importantly, the last day of the St Clair Saltwater Pool being open till October.
The Pool got super busy this morning with Dunedinites getting their last swim in before the winter months.
Swimmers were also treated to a stunner of a sunrise... I was split minded about which to photograph, so I did both 😉

The has some great buildings, the big glass library, the clock tower etc. but some of my favourites are the hidden and obscure ones.
Like the Zoology Department's Benham Building on Great King St.
Standing proud between two large trees and in clear space, this imposing structure is unashamedly bold and beautiful.

There's always something to see in the urban jungle...
I probably wouldn't have noticed these scaffolders working on the Railway Station if it wasn't for the dark storm clouds behind them and the bright sun light hit them in front.
All of a sudden there was contrast, drama, patterns and a puff of steam even... the mundane suddenly became something else altogether.

Here's something I'm looking forward to this summer... exploring some of the incredible walking tracks we have around Dunedin.

This one is Heyward Point track above Aramoana, the views from atop the cliffs are insanely good, especially during the golden hour!!

An early morning mission up Dalziel Road a few weeks back yielded some stunning images I've been itching to share...

The thick fog was glowing as the sun was rising behind it, diffused light illuminating the forest colours. I was in awe.

Such incredible scenes right on Dunedin's back doorstep.

Dolphins at St Clair!!!

This was a first for me and definitely one I'd been hoping to see...

Thursday morning this week, a couple of little Hector's dolphins were playing in the waves with the surfers just off the Esplanade. They weren't jumping but was amazing to see. 🌊🤙🏼🐬
