For 35 years as a veterinarian, I have lived and breathed animals. I know how to read them, how to calm them, how to earn their trust.

Now I photograph them.

Fiona Maddox Pet Photography - Hawke's Bay is dedicated entirely to outdoor, natural light sessions for pets and horses in Hawke's Bay. Because I've spent a career understanding animals, I know how to capture who they really are, not just how they look.

Hi, I'm Fiona.

For 35 years I worked as a veterinarian. I've sat in consult rooms with worried owners, I've handled every kind of animal in every kind of mood, and I know how much your pet means to you.

Now I do something I love just as much: I photograph them.

Fiona Maddox Pet Photography is focused entirely on outdoor, natural light sessions. No studios, no backdrops, no forcing your dog to sit still somewhere unfamiliar. Just your pet, outside, in the light that suits them.

My vet background means I can read animal behaviour, keep sessions calm and safe, and give you time to get the real shots, not just the posed ones.

I hold a Diploma in Professional Photography, trained with world-renowned pet photographers in Canada, and I'm proud to have had images recognised in the 2025 International Pet Photography Awards.
