The Embark challenge continues with upups and soul searcher. Floyd has loved getting up on all sorts of things and we have found some fabulous spots at Pukeora on the limestone rocks. For the soul searcher challenge I used just a simple concrete backdrop for minimal distractions.

Challenge 3: Create a balanced composition. Floyd turned on the charm with a beautiful head turn but I was not quite ready and I didn't nail focus 100%. I loved finding this beautiful spot in the Forest of memories and the foliage framed Floyd fantastically.

Challenge 2: Get Down.

The judges enjoyed a giggle about Floyd's grinch like feet. They praised the forsite to see that a pretty ordinary background could look quite extraordinary when back lit. They were split on how well I had handled the black fur and they both felt a better crop could be achieved by bringing in the top and left of the canvas.
I've really enjoyed this challenge and using our local area to create a beautiful portrait. The next challenge is a central composition with symmetry. This will be tricky for Floyd as engagement with the camera will be really important. He is pretty fed up with the camera being pointed at him.

First Embark challenge finished. Embark is a series of 12 photography challenges run by unleashed education. The first one is called colouriffic. The brief was to find a bold colour and photograph your subject in front of it.
Floyd was a champ and has already started modelling for the next challenge "get down low". I cant wait to share those images later.
