🏁 Car of the Fortnight 🏁

Nothing subtle about this one. Bright orange paint, flared guards, wet tarmac and “SLR5000” stenciled down the side — exactly how a Torana should look: bold, aggressive and impossible to ignore. The wide stance, chunky tyres and low-slung profile all shout performance before the engine even turns over.

These cars have attitude before they even fire up, and in the rain they become an absolute handful — a twitchy, slide-hungry beast that rewards smooth inputs and nerves of steel. Old-school muscle never relied on traction control or electronic babysitters; it relied on raw power, mechanical grip and driver bravery, plus the satisfying bark of a properly tuned V8. When they break traction on a wet corner the spectacle is half the fun — for the driver and the crowd.

Livery of the Week — Gulf Toyota MR2

Anything wearing Gulf colours automatically earns attention in the paddock. That powder-blue and orange pairing has been turning heads for more than half a century — from Ford GT40s and Porsche 917s to modern tributes — thanks to its high-contrast, instantly recognisable palette and deep association with racing success. On this MR2 the classic scheme lifts every photo, reinforces motorsport heritage and makes the little Toyota feel like a major contender.

That’s a wrap on the season.

Another year of racing done — and as always, it didn’t disappoint. There were strong moments, frustrating ones, progress, setbacks, and everything in between. That’s motorsport. Nothing ever comes easy, and nothing ever stays the same for long.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who played a part in making this season happen — teams, drivers, organisers, officials, and everyone working behind the scenes to keep it all moving. It’s easy to overlook just how many people it takes to get cars on track each weekend, but none of it happens without them.

To everyone who followed along, supported trackside, shared posts, or simply checked in throughout the season — thank you. It genuinely makes a difference. Motorsport might look like it’s all about what happens on track, but it only exists because of the people around it.

A personal thank you as well to those who supported my work this season. Whether that was bookings, sharing content, or trusting me to capture the moments that matter — I appreciate it more than I can properly put into words. Without that support, none of this is sustainable, and I don’t take it lightly.

Now it’s time to reset. Review what worked, fix what didn’t, and come back sharper next season. The goal doesn’t change: keep improving, keep pushing, keep delivering better work every time I’m trackside.

NZ Six Finale Race Report – NZIGP Season Finale

The final NZ Six race of the season wrapped up the NZIGP weekend at Hampton Downs with another brilliant display of close, hard-fought racing.

Bradley Wenzlick ( #18) capped off an impressive weekend by taking victory in the final race after a race-long battle with James Cooper ( #11). The pair traded pace throughout the race, with James once again showing strong speed in the iconic Castrol-liveried machine while Brad held firm to secure the win.

Christina Orr-West ( #55) continued her strong form across the weekend, claiming another Trophy Class victory while also setting the fastest lap of the race with an impressive 1:18.881.

Further through the field, the midfield pack once again produced some of the best racing of the weekend. Bryn Lucas ( #26), Sheryl Hanright ( #49), Hayden Rau ( #68), Shaggy Lowe ( #82), and Brydon Hickson ( #66) spent much of the race locked together in classic NZ Six fashion — close, respectful, and absolutely committed.

The final race perfectly summed up why NZ Six continues to be one of the most entertaining categories in New Zealand motorsport. No complicated electronics, no massive aero packages — just drivers wrestling cars around Hampton Downs with plenty of door-to-door racing and personality.
