Rewards from Sundays Hunt 🦌 🐗 🏔️
Great to get away with my Cousins for a night at the hut and a day harvest some animals. Was plenty to pick from ! We made the most of it and will be into some cooking in no time. Very lucky to have these sorts of opportunities on our back door step. Looking forward to doing it all again oneday soon.

Trapping Season 2026 🐵
Winter felt like it was here this week and it was a good insensitive to set some traps. Over the next few months I’ll be working hard to catch these pests. It’s a rewarding job doing our part for the environment with the opportunity to get the kids outdoors and earn some money on the side. Bring it on !

Duck, Bacon, Venison and Beef 🥧.. delicious family meal for our Birthday Girl ! Fresh Duck we harvested together, Fresh Venison we also harvested together , Home kill Angus Beef and some trusty bacon from the butcher. Mixed with some beef stock and fresh herbs from our garden. Rosemary, Parsley and Mint. Finely chopped and all slow cooked for 8hrs.

Coastal Morning Adventure 🌊 The calm before the storm. Out on the road, off to make the most of a calm early morning and harvest some food before the afternoon commitments. We are so lucky to have such a variety of opportunities in our country. Can not beat it ! Out door activities are always the best fix for your physical and mental health. Make the most of it !

Last opportunity for a while ! While weather was forecast to turn the following week , I knew this early morning window would be my last for the time being. Glad I made the effort it was a great dive , calm cold seas and plenty of opportunities. There’s nothing like being able to harvest fresh food for your family and friends.

A great selection of birds for the weekend 🦆 Mallard Ducks , Nz Shovler Duck, a Nz Grey duck, Paradise shelducks and topped with a unique Blonde Mallard Drake.
There is a slight difference in taste between the different breeds, but they all are delicious in the slow cooker and made into pies !
Keep an eye out for some fresh home cooking coming soon. Our favourite recipe is Duck, Venison and Bacon pie.

Quality time with the Kids 🦆
A quick wee blind set up in the paddock, with a half decent decoys spread and we were in for a fun morning! We ended up with a great mixed bag of ducks. Paradise, Mallard, Shovler and a grey to finish. We also managed a stunning Blonde mallard drake just on dark. Time to process some birds for eating and sharing with family !

Plenty of bird’s around and enough come into our decoys to keep all interested.
The girls loved the experience, hot milos were key and snacks are a must. We headed home to process some birds while they were still warm and easy to pluck.
Plenty to go in some pies and to share with friends. Looking forward to this evening shoot . Hope all is well for the rest of you making the most of it.
