Hello from Sardinia on my 51st birthday!

In case anyone was wondering why this page has been quiet of late, I am on a long awaited trip around Europe with my husband Richard and son Toby ( who just pulled funny faces for this photo!) We are halfway through our trip and enjoying the warmth :)

I’ve just found out that the image I entered in the Asia Pacific Photography Awards has been awarded Gold, and is also equal runner-up in the Child Category along side the very talented Stacey Cavalier. I’m thriled to see it recognised alongside such strong work. Huge congratulations to Olivia Wakefield for taking out the top spot with her very thoughtful and emotive portrait.

This image is actually eight years old, and was my tribute to all the things children do in photography sessions that torment us photographers. It was originally photographed for a category requiring minimal editing so we had to get everything right in-camera. For anyone wondering about the outfits - I dressed them in clothes reminiscent of how embarrassed I felt by what my mother put me in during photo shoots in the 80s. Basically this photo is a nod to my personal photography nightmares!

I’m going to post this big so you can really zoom in and see what each of these kids are up to - some are quite subtle!

A big thank-you to all my young models who really embraced the theme - we had a ball shooting this. And thank-you to NZIPP and especially the Honours team for putting on such a well run event.
