I've been chasing the aurora around the world for over 15 years and it's eluded me in so many different ways over the years. But this time I only had to step outside my own house to see it. How good!

I'm very excited to finally release this project. Owen Tootill and myself worked on last year out at Greens Estate in the Manawatu.

Nestled in the foothills just outside of of Palmerston North, is New Zealand's newest freestyle downhill mountain bike park Green Estate. A dream of the farm owner and bike enthusiast Brad Nieuwkoop, turned into a reality when he teamed up with Paul Needham, a local track designer and all round legend of the NZ bike world. Together with the help of Tom Humphries and Matthew C***s they created the Magic Carpet, consisting of 20 XL features with the Crown Jewels being a 35ft rock gap over a road into the 50ft jump dubbed the Moon Booter. Its definitely earned its local reputation and is the perfect training facility for riders wanted to progress.

This short film was created over the first few sessions on many of the features and showcases what is possible when you turn your dreams into reality.

It was amazing to see a few Kea while out in the Mt Aspiring national park over the break.
Although they are cheeky and can cause all sorts of havoc with your tents, bikes, gear in general, they are bloody beautiful and such a unique bird. Don't mind posing for photos either.

Great way to spend the first few days of this year, following up a few local hills. Pretty stoked to get out into the mountains that are in the backyard. Bloody beautiful up there.

Although last year proved to be a challenge, Emily and Andrew pushed through the stress and pressure to create their very special day, although not without sacrifice. I woke up to a message from Kieran Hodges this morning with a memory from a trip that finished up 5 years ago. I find it hard to believe such a stand out moment in my film making adventure was that long ago. We were in Peru to shoot a documentary but we had a bit of time to acclimatise so we starting shooting this side project. Cusco was such a stand out city for all of us, the people, the culture, it really took your breathe away. Literally!
