Tane Mahuta, also called 'God of the Forest', is a giant kauri tree in the Waipoua Forest of Northland Region, New Zealand. It is considered as the biggest kauri tree to stand today and is estimated to be between 1,250 t0 2,500 years old.

There is a short walk under cooling shade of the forest that will lead you to the majestic tree. There is a wooden fence and a seat that will bring you face to face with the 'God of the Forest'. Its overwehelmin size makes visitors look like dwarfs.

*It is very important that you keep to the walking track at all times. Cleaning stations for your footwear are also provided. Kauri trees have very sensitive roots, and foot traffic around the tree endangers their life span.
