The aim of MUSTER is to be a cheerleader for rural life, and to share the beauty of the high country with you through photography. Photography by Anna Munro, nee Anna Jaine.

'I had the best upbringing on sheep and beef farms 'Cren Lea' in Carew, and later 'Cravendale' in Mt Somers. I have always loved all things creative! 🎹 🎶🎸📸 🎨

These days I live in Hawea with my husband, Mitch, and two spoilt

dogs (farm dogs + couch dwellers 🐕). My work is split between shepherding at Ardgour Station, and physio-ing in Wanaka. I am lucky enough to head to Lake Heron Station for musters when they are desperate for numbers 😂🐏, and throw the camera in for each trip. We've had a beautiful spell of bluebird days coming out of such a wet summer...fantastic all round for stock and humans!

Lots of farm happenings and life with two wee ones is certainly full-on, so there's never much of a dull moment! The sheep and beef prices this year have been so strong which is awesome.

I have found it on the whole great being a Mum of two, but am definitely a lot more off-the-farm! Still get out most days but some days are a disaster 😂

Autumn Muster Lake Heron Station 🍂

Snuck up the gorge for a day at the muster with young Isabel! How good it was to get up in the hills with a great bunch of hardy shepherds, wethers and dogs. My favourite day of the four day autumn muster...there is nothing quite like watching those merinos string across the scree 🐕

Wire Fence creek was running low which made for good travel, but I can't say the slog up Teddy's Hill has got any easier! Fresh snow on the tops made for picture perfect puff stops though 😁

Isabel was a trooper in the front pack, it was her Mama who could hardly walk the next day! 🤣

Thanks to the Todhunters for an awesome day out, well done to the mustering team for doing the mahi over the four day muster 🐏

Busy week ahead at Cravendale with cattle weaning this Tuesday!

Great to see some thumper calves up on the hill on a beautiful Autumn evening 🍂

We'll have to line them up next to the pet calves and see how much of a pipsqueak young Rocket Lollipop really is! 🐃

Genetics are a mixture of Cleardale, Mt Possession and Sudeley Angus, with a few white faced Okawa Angus/Hereford calves thrown in to keep it interesting! We'll keep our best heifers as replacements, the best steer calves go up the road to a neighbour's for finishing, and the remainder will be heading to Canterbury Park for the sale on Wednesday.
