The Me before I lost my dad thought that grief was linear. That I'd stumble through all the firsts without him, the first Christmas, Fathers Day, his birthday, mine; with pain and tears
And then it would just feel better... like after a year, the pain would ease. (I think i read it in a Marian Keyes book).

Post-death-grief-Me knows something different. That grief isn't linear. It doesn't consistently get better.

It is a cycle that cycles over and over. Yes definitely some easing through time.

There are some times where it feels as raw and fresh as yesterday. When I ache for one of his big squeezy hugs, or to hear some words of advice from him (like what should I do now, Dad?)

Or to just sit on his deck with a coffee in the sun like we used to when he had understood that his life was coming to an end, and that these moments on the deck, were all we had left.

You'd think that six years would pass and it would all feel alright now..and it mostly does. But there is still a hole where he was.

There is the remembering that happens every year, I can feel it in my bones, in the air, in the bare trees of the winter season. The grief season. It's like my body remembers, and each year, at this time, it feels hard.

Today I'm going to journal. To sit with our memories. To be gentle on myself.

He was a great man, and I was so loved. I'll remember that.

It’s my birthday today, and what a year it has been....

I’m in my feminine, barefoot, dress-wearing era and it is a delight ❤️ ✨️
I learned to follow my flow and choose at least three things every day that bring me joy.

One of these is reading my book in a café in the morning while I have a coffee — do you know how joyous it is for me to start my day like this? It’s so romantic to read in a café, especially when it’s raining.

And because of this, I have read some excellent books this year:

The Empowered Wife,
The Let Them Theory,
The Queen’s Code,
and Keys to the Kingdom were some of my favs.

I highly recommend any of these, particularly if you are struggling within your partnership, or single, or have a passion for understanding feminine and masculine dynamics like I do.

I am a mama to a seven-year-old dancing, songwriting, violin-playing, clay-creating, singing, tree-climbing daughter.

I adore my beautiful friends who hold me in love and hold me accountable.
And this year, a special man has entered my life and has been really treasuring me.

I have found my passions in life: the creative work as a photographer and the soul work of a Doula, supporting women to have beautiful, empowered births.

I’ve recently been making my fairies again, and I’m enjoying this new energy in my creative flow.

I dance salsa, and this year I started a new passion: West Coast Swing dance. I’ve been on lots of solo adventures for dance and for life — weekends away, dance events, roadies to visit friends or with my man to epic incredible places.

I love getting older!
I love the wisdom and depth it brings.
I love dropping parts of me that just don’t serve me anymore and stepping further on my path.
I love processing all my stuff and being able to connect with depth and authenticity from my heart.

I love living in my tiny house and growing food in my garden, but I can sense I will need a bit more space soon.
I love my three grey hairs and the little wrinkles that have started to deepen my dimples.

There is so much I love about life.

❤️ ✨️

I digress

My birthday wish is simple: share a memory of us together.

I’m nostalgic, and I love spending my birthday remembering the special moments that made me who I am.

If you feel like it, I’d love for you to write a memory below or send me a private message. ❤️ I appreciate you!
