"The Temple near Prada"

Daci Temple, Chengdu, Sichuan, China

Just along the road from our hotel in Chengdu was the massive Tai Koo Li shopping area; an outdoor mall with the likes of Chanel, Gucci, Bugatti and Prada. In the middle of this complex was the Daci Temple, a 1600 year old Buddhist Temple. This photos shows the rear entrance to the temple.

"Gate to the future"

On our first day in Kunming we walked around the shopping area and found this archway in the middle of the modern buildings.

"Biggest city in the world"

We spent a couple of days in Chongqing ( "Chong-ching" ) on our trip around China. It is a crazy place to visit for 2 reasons; 1 it is built on a series of hills which leads to buildings and metro lines being on the edges of cliffs, and 2 it is reputed to be the largest city in the world with 32 million people, but most non-Chinese have never heard of the place.

This photo is of the Qiansimen Bridge, Jialing River and Chongqing Downtown beyond. The building with the yellow lights beyond the bridge is known as Hongyadong and has street access at level 11, street access at level 2 and the ground floor is level with the river.

"Lady in Red"
Xian City Walls, Xian, China.

Everywhere we went in China we saw young ladies dressed up in traditional costumes, being photographed by professional photographers at local landmarks. It must be the biggest business in China at the moment. We saw this lady being photographed at the West Gate of the Xian City Walls, so I just had to steal a shot using someone else's set up.

This photo was taken on our second day in China and our first in the city of Xian. I love visiting these little tucked away temples as they so often have little hidden details or cool design elements.

Shanghai Pudong Skyline

This is the first is a series of photos ( 1 for each day of our trip ) from our time in China recently.

This was our first day on the ground, and after a brief exploration around Nanjing Rd we took some photos looking across to the skyline on the other side of the river. It was grey so it seemed to suit a black and white long exposure shot.
