My hope for every session is that your beautiful photos don’t stay stuck on a screen.

That they find their way onto your walls, where little feet run past them every day.

Resting on shelves where tiny hands can pick them up.

Little reminders of seasons gone by.

Because one day, these photos won’t just show what your family looked like…

They’ll remind your children what it felt like to grow up here.

They’re far too important to spend their lives on a hard drive. 🤍

And if you’ve been here for a while, I realised I’ve never properly introduced myself…

Hi, I’m Kim.

Mum of three, based in Brightwater, Nelson.

Most days you’ll find me juggling school drop-offs, photographing beautiful families, filling my camera roll with far too many photos and videos of my own kids, or standing on the side of a motocross track.

I’ve always loved photographs, but it wasn’t until I experienced loss that I understood just how precious they are.

Not because life is perfect.

Because it isn’t.

The missing teeth.

The muddy gumboots.

The bedtime cuddles.

The ordinary Tuesday afternoon that somehow became the memories we miss the most.

Somewhere along the way, photography became more than just taking photos.

It became a way of holding onto the memories we love.

A way of remembering how life felt.

That’s what Rusty Acres Photography is built on.

Not perfect poses, or picture perfect children.

Connection.

The real moments.

The little chapters that make up your family’s story.
