Serpentine Church
Serpentine Scenic Reserve, Otago. The Serpentine Church is the last intact building in the remote Serpentine Reserve mining area and has stood strong for more than 150 years — a tangible connection to Central Otago’s rich mining history.
Sadly, the church was vandalised, with windows smashed and artefacts damaged. These images were taken just a couple of months before that happened, capturing this remarkable piece of history as it stood before the senseless damage.
