Introducing Artist, Russ Dixon. Russ was born in Leeds, England, and currently lives and works here in New Plymouth. He is a self taught photographer, who specialises in Fine Art, Portraiture and Conceptual Photography.

Russ shoots conceptual imagery for a European photo agency that provides images to the book cover publishing industry. Russ has had work published around the world, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, as well as here in New Zealand. His largest commission to date was for over 60 large format artworks to decorate the foyers of three high rise condominiums in the UK.

Russ’s first love is for monochromatic work, having started out building a darkroom in his parent’s bathroom when he was 12. Nowadays technology allows a healthier and less smelly way to produce images.
Russ has been influenced by some of the great photographers of the past including Brassai, Ansel Adams, Bill Brandt, and Robert Doisneau.
