Almost exactly one year ago, I made a decision to relaunch ; however, here I am, a full year later, and I haven't done much (at least, not in terms of posting anything!). Being a plant lady at has definitely kept me occupied during this time...So here I am, once again, to make the same pledge to *reboot* my photography.

I'm on the hunt for couples, friend groups, besties, & families (up to four people) who are wanting some updated images of themselves (and who reaaaally want to help me build my portfolio again!) My only requirement is you are happy for me to use the photos on my website and on social media.

These photos are from a recent weekend trip with some special humans to attempt to tackle Mt Tongariro, though the weather had other plans! We had a fantastic time, for some, it was the first in snow so although we didn't get to complete the hike I absolutely loved our experience and spending time with this crew 🤍🫶🏼✨

Hi 👋 let me re introduce myself, I’m Samantha! Born and raised in the South Island, NZ. Currently living on the Kapiti Coast, NZ. I’m a natural light portrait and conceptual art photographer.

After finishing my degree in 2015, I started work experience in different photography industries, travelled a little and overall enjoyed living out my 20s.

In 2019 I took a dramatic turn and launched another passion project of mine - house plants! The Power Plant has been my love project for the past three years and counting. With the beginning of 2023 drawing close I craved my connection with my camera and made the leap to re-launch shphoto and embrace my love for photography once again.

I'm so excited to share this journey with you all, thanks for sticking around 🧡

Love this woman and photographer! She has been my inspiration all through completing my degree and now has her 2nd edition of her famous Wonderland book coming out :) I can't wait to see it, the detail looks amazing. FINALLY I'm posting this! I did a bridal shoot earlier this year and here is a little sneak peak for you :) I got to test some new photography gear and have a play.. plus a stunning model, what else can a photographer ask for!?

Samantha Hamilton is currently in her 3rd year doing a Bachelor of Applied Arts majoring in Photography at Whitireia and The Photo School.

Thin Ice is an exhibition of experimental work that investigates the devastating struggles that are happening in the Arctic Circle - all of which mankind can change.

"With this project, I decided to take a different approach to this problem and view it as a cautionary fairy tale. Using portraiture I wanted to create a narrative that shows the Arctic Queen as a strong leader who is trying to protect her environment. She faces many battles."

"These images are the voice for my frustrations; I feel something needs to change."

"The Arctic Queen is a tough creature who lives in a barren environment. She is strong and puts up a fight. However, after many years of fighting, she is continually getting weaker.

Protecting the wildlife and their homes are her biggest and most challenging tasks. The wonderful animals that roam these ways are under attack by Humans. They are destroying their home.
Oil rigs are painting the landscape, big ships are passing through and the general pollution is warming up the Earth's oceans and seas, therefore melting the ice sheet.

Will The Humans decide to make a change?
Will it be too late?"
