Last year we hosted the very first Depth of Field, an event for women in action sports and outdoor media. We knew it would be a good time with great people, and we hoped it would be the start of something really special.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up when this was just an idea and helped build a community that continues to grow and support one another in an industry that can sometimes feel isolating.

This year, we’re widening the circle. If you work in the wider outdoor industry, marketing, sales, media, or you’re an athlete wanting to grow your community and create epic content, this one’s for you.

A bunch of us are getting together to photograph the wahine at the Mulch Session and meet up. We’ll start the day with a coffee at and a chat about the fundamentals of creating an epic MTB image, then head up the hill together to shoot the action.

Meet .hadfield
Alongside , she makes up half of the team behind Depth of Field. Her photography career spans over a decade, though it didn’t start in action sports. That journey took off unexpectedly with a win at the Crankworx Deep Summer competition. Since then, she has been part of some incredible projects including an all-female Red Bull film (The Haz Project), national and international campaigns, and major events such as Crankworx and the Natural Selection Tour.

Rach and Depth of Field are backed by some amazing partners. As a Sony advocate, she not only gets to share her knowledge but also creates community-focused events like DOF. We are so grateful for support for both Rach and the community. More partner introductions are on the way, but for now a big thank you to Sony for being part of this journey.

What is Depth of Field and why should you give up your weekend to join us?

We love this industry. It’s what gets us excited to jump out of bed in the morning. Depth of Field is the very first of what we hope will be many events: a chance to connect with other like-minded ladies who truly get the feeling.

Yes, it’s going to be an epic weekend hanging out with some rad ladies. But more than that, we want you to leave not only inspired to push harder, but also equipped with new, tangible skills and a supportive crew of women who understand the sometimes lonely journey of being a self-employed baddie.
