✨ A winter session to remember… ✨

When I mentioned I had a couple of extended family session spots left for winter, Jo reached out, and I'm so glad she did.
Honestly, we had all the weather. Rain, a rainbow, wind, and then the most beautiful sunset to finish the evening off. It was freezing, but this crew absolutely embraced it all and were such troopers.

There were lots of laughs, plenty of cuddles, and I may or may not have convinced Grandad to cluck like a chicken for a bit of entertainment… which he very enthusiastically did. šŸ˜‚ Those are the moments I love most, when everyone relaxes, has fun, and forgets they're even having photos taken.

Here's what Jo sent me after receiving her gallery:
"Sarah! Holy moly! These photos are INCREDIBLE!! Thank you so much. We all commented how effortless and easy you made the whole photo session and your photos… I'm lost for words! They are so special. Love every single one. Thank you so much, you've got a gift!" ā¤ļø

This is exactly why I adore extended family sessions. Getting all the little cousins together, capturing grandparents with their grandbabies, and creating photos that become part of your family's story is such a privilege.

I could possibly squeeze in ONE MORE extended family sessions before daylight savings arrives...
If you've been thinking about getting everyone together, send me a message. Split a session with the family, make some memories, and let me worry about the entertainment… chickens and all. šŸ”šŸ¤

Meet the proudest big brother you've ever seen! šŸ¤

Four-year-old Luke might have needed a little convincing at first, but the moment he held his baby brother Henry, he was so happy

Watching him whisper "I love you baby" to his little brother was one of the sweetest moments

It was such a pleasure to spend the morning with Xanthe and Ethan as they settle into life as a family of four.

Their in-home newborn session was relaxed, beautiful, and so easy, thanks to little Henry being so settled. We breezed through the session, capturing all those precious moments before leaving this gorgeous family to soak up their newborn bubble.

Thank you so much for having me in your home and trusting me to preserve these memories for you X

A few years ago I had the absolute privilege of photographing Nicole and Ben's unforgettable, rain soaked West Coast wedding, a day so many of you still remember.

It was such a special feeling to have them back in front of my camera again, this time for a sunset maternity session as they celebrated the next chapter of their story.

Since these photos were taken, they've welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, and I honestly couldn't be happier for them. Watching couples grow into families is one of the greatest privileges of this job

Congratulations again, Nicole and Ben. Thank you for trusting me to capture another milestone in your journey XX

I had the best time with Rachel and her family recently down at the beach. They were after some extended family photos, and honestly what a joy it was to do these

I love these sessions as they have both space to have everyone together + time for individual families in a way that doesn't feel rushed or hurried (and you can split the costs too!)

Here's what Rachel had to say "We had such an amazing experience with Sarah! We did an extended family photoshoot and the way Sarah interacted with all the kids was so fun and engaging, and produced the most beautiful photos as a result.
We all had an absolute blast together and didn’t feel awkward in front of the camera, and that was purely down to Sarah and the relaxed environment she created.
If you have a young family and want to get some photos done I would 1000% recommend Sarah"

A little late sharing this one, but Kelsey and Riley's wedding was too beautiful not to!

An amazing day, incredible people, so much laughter, and a whole lot of love. Every detail was thoughtfully put together, and it was such a privilege to capture it all, I genuinely had the best time with them

One of those weddings that leaves you smiling the whole way home X šŸ¤

New wedding on the blog šŸ”„šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø This time it’s my gorgeous friend Lysandra and her new hubby, George šŸ¤

I’ve been lucky enough to capture these two through so many seasons of life over the years, so being there to photograph their wedding day felt incredibly special. Their beautiful celebration on Lysandra’s family farm in Kaikōura was filled with love, laughter, amazing people, and the most stunning scenery!

It was probably one of the hottest, muggiest days of the entire summer, which felt like a miracle considering earlier in the week we were worried about rain and grey skies. Thankfully the weather delivered, and we were absolutely spoiled with the most beautiful locations all day long.

There are so many images in this blog and I’m so proud to have captured these guys over the years and now this incredible chapter too.

If you’re in the mood for some wedding inspiration, their beautiful day is now live on the blog.

Beautiful chaos with the Fraser family šŸ«¶šŸ»

I’ve been photographing this crew for years now, right back to their wedding, so it’s always so special to catch up and see how their family has grown.

One thing I’ll always encourage during family sessions is for kids to simply be kids. There’s no expectation to sit perfectly still or smile on command. I want them to feel safe, relaxed, trusted, and free to have fun. That’s where the magic happens.

Those genuine in-between moments are often the ones families treasure most. And usually, once everyone has relaxed and settled into the session, we manage to sneak in a few frame-worthy portraits too.

For me, family photography is about capturing people as they really are. The little quirks, the laughter, the chaos, and the connection. The moments that will remind you exactly what this season of life felt like.

And while the Fraser kids are pretty adorable, I think the real star of this session was their new dog, Luna. Every few minutes she'd launch herself into the river, then come charging back to us and shake muddy water absolutely everywhere. We spent most of the session laughing at her and running away

Such fun!
