I'm stoked to be able to share this epic promo shot for and their upcoming production of Tartuffe - go check it out! 🎉

I've always been keen to use this technique and the awesome show design coupled with the art deco styling of made for the perfect opportunity.

Swipe for a deconstruction of the final shot, pieced together by lighting and capturing each cast member individually, then bringing all 9 images together in the edit. This gives a super dramatic look which brings out the unique personalities of each character.

The cast are all lit with a single .australia Forza 60C with a gridded Demi. I wanted to keep the natural ambient warm glow of the on-location lamps, so being able to balance the ambient and artificial light for power and white balance was critical. There's an FS300B bouncing off the ceiling as well to bring the overall room level up just a touch.

Also I gotta add, the camera connect app was a real make or break element to this shoot, as I needed a way to fire the camera remotely as I held the light!

A bit more complex than my usual group shot but absolutely worth it I reckon. Huge thanks to and the Aidan crew for letting me run with it, and for the amazing location 😊

Laura was of course shooting bridal (go check out her gorgeous shots on her page!), so I had fun trying to push a different direction. We borrowed this awesome candelabra that we saw on site and it fit the vibe perfectly!

I've done more and more with continuous lights lately and they're a lot of fun, I've got three in here - all Nanlite - FS300B in the front, Forza 60C from behind and a Pavotube right at the back for the warm glow on the wall. Love it!

Sooo, in an effort to not completely ignore Facebook I'm going to try throw the odd IG post up here too this year 😅

The perfectly expressive nailed the first shoot for 2024! 🤙

Some of you may have seen I painted a custom canvas backdrop over the break, using this gorgeous colour combo from Dulux New Zealand 🎨😍 I wanted a kind of warm light vibe on this one, as most my other drops are quite dark. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out, and I'm sure it'll get a lot of use! The colours are Rai Valley on the base, with Moa Flat and Te Waewae Half textured on top, all from the Colours of New Zealand range. Love it!

I used a 183cm wide roll of plain canvas from The Canvas Company which I bought a couple years ago, it's ideal for this sort of thing!

Just a wee sliver of shots from the absolutely epic Aspect Trust Tug-o-War held on Saturday! 💪

Huge congrats to all involved on a massive night, all for a great cause!!

Special shout out to Vibrant NZ who pulled out all the stops for the event lighting setup, anywhere I pointed my camera it was looking incredible.
