Is there anything more beautiful than capturing the love of a Mother?
Te Rā o Māmā, Mothers Day.
A day to celebrate the women who brought us into this world,
Who raised us,
Who loved us when we didn’t love ourselves,
Who are our greatest role models.
Today is about you. But every day should be Mother’s Day.
There is no other job in the world that comes close to the role of a Mother, no job as challenging, tiring, rewarding, frustrating, sleep depriving, doubt ridden, love filled, terrifying, tear jerking, worry filled, heart warming and full of abundant blessings, as that of a Mother.
If you were lucky enough to be raised by one of these Wahine Toa, biological or not, or to have a role model like this in your life, count yourself blessed beyond measure.
So to all the Māmā’s out there today,
• the already mums
• the soon to be mums
• the adopted mums
• the mums of angel pēpi
• the mums who are still trying to be mums
• the dads who are mums
• the grandmothers
• the Aunties who are mums
• the stepmums
• those who are grieving their mums
• the mums of fur babies
• the teachers who are like mums
• the special women who mother because it is in their nature
• the mums who stepped in when they needed to
• the mums who are dad and mum
• the mums who were chosen
• and every kind of māmā in between,
We see you,
We love you, and
We are grateful for you.
Ngā mihi me te aroha nui mō te Rā o Māmā 💖💖
