Becoming a bit of a tradition now where instead of presents and flowers for Mother’s Day we go out and take some photos, it’s all I really want anyway! Blake has got surprisingly handy with the camera now, the only things I have to do are set up the backdrop, the settings, the distance, the composition, the angle, keep everyone entertained and on task, the focus and the lighting, but he’s nailed clicking the button 😂

In January I went to do my ‘top 9’ wrap up of 2024 and noted I had only posted 10 times for the entire year 🫣 and then I keep banging on about being a changed woman and now it’s nearly March and I’m making my first post, but what a banger she is! Lisa is an amazing photographer based in Oz, we have been trying to organise a session for literally years and then with our move down south the stars aligned while she was planning a trip here ✨ such a stunning evening down by the river with her beautiful family!

I first met Emily when I ran a series of ‘front step’ photos during lockdowns. I photographed over 100 families in my local area in around 2 weeks. Then I ran these two more times for those big subsequent lockdowns. I met over 200 families during this time! What a time that was. I know so many of them look at those photos and remember the crazy of it all. It’s so cool when those families ask me to capture their family again, love seeing them outside the literal confines of their front step!

Ok, new town, new me, new posting goals 🙈 I think I’ve posted less than 10 times in the past year and I keep talking about sharing more and then I get posting paralysis and too overwhelmed with socials and nothing happens 🥴⁣

I have so many wonderful families to share so I’ll start with Jess and her family. I had such a fun evening with Jess, Todd and Marla. They don’t share Marla’s face on social media which I have huge respect for in Jess’ line of work, so you’ll just have to trust me when I say she has the most shining big eyes and beautiful smile 🤍

After talking about this for over a decade we have finally done it, our family has moved to our favorite spot of the country, Wanaka. The boys have settled into school, we are adapting to the cold (Micah still wears no shoes and t shirts everywhere 🥴) and Scottie is perpetually dressed as a marshmallow. I will still be doing photography down here, just with a new backdrop, if you come down for a holiday, book in a spot! It’s a big change for our family but everyone has loved it so far, they can’t wait to head up the mountain soon! ⛷️ we realised we needed to stop just talking about our dreams and actually live them, so here we are!

Episode 3 of things my children say. Micah saw me buy a packet of toffee pops and I said they are for your lunchboxes and he said ‘no they aren’t, you’re just going to eat them all at night, I know you are’ ⁣
