That Tree. Again.

The weather in Milford Sound had closed in, and it was off to find somewhere else. Checking the weather forecast in Te Anua it looked pretty grim around the traps (Nugget Point and Moreaki seemed dreadful) and Queenstown was about the same.

So I decided to go back to Wanaka because it was a just a really cool town with a great vibe to it.

Sunrise came. And once that light hits the tree its just a magical moment.

Rays.

I very rarely shoot Sydney in any form. Its a shame but I'm either busy, its a bit far or I'm too drunk in the city. I was meeting a friend for some farewell drinks as they were flying back after a fleeting visit to Australia.

I chucked my bag in and hoped for something. But when arriving in Sydney the heavens opened up. I figured sunset was a right off, til we walked out of a bar and I saw the clouds and persuaded the others sunset 'might' be good.

I had originally planned on shooting the iconic scene from Macs chair. But during that, these Rays presented themselves as the sun went down behind the city. A quick reposition was all I needed.

I don't generally get to shoot in Sydney all too often. There's nothing there that interests me or I'm too drunk with mates.

This afternoon, I chucked my camera bag in the car (just in case). When I got to Sydney to meet my friends from the US, the heavens had opened up and I was thinking well, at least I can enjoy a beer or two now.

A few hours later, the sky was clearing briefly, I persuaded the others to go shoot. And, albeit briefly, I'd finally got a shot of Sydney I was content with.

A slight break from NZ goodness, that will resume shortly. I recently acquired a new camera body and well, had to put it to the test almost immediately (because why not). Sadly the weather looked ordinary but reports indicated it would clear for sunset. And didn't it put on a show.

The west coast of New Zealand delivers in spades. It's such a wild place and the ever changing and unpredictable weather can make for some incredible image.

This little image was taken after heading up to the viewpoint of the glacier. And heading back to the carpark and seeing this unfold. It had myself scrambling over the moraine for a good spot.

So I just did my first two weeks in New Zealand's South Island. And I'm sitting st the airport wondering why it took so long for me to get here. It's a stunning place. And I know I'll be back for me. But whilst I wait for the plane, here's a quick edit of because we all have to have a shot of that.

The craziest of mornings.

Sometimes things look a bit eh. We had a quick shoot at Salto Grande and then headed to the cascades. We then noticed this distinct glow that sunrise was going to be a killer. So we set off for this beach we knew would have a killer leading line. We didn't expect to find this tree in the middle. Literally my first image from this tree. Another one because why the hell not.

I'm currently sitting at the airport bar enjoying a 🍺 before boarding my flight to 🇳🇿 and reminiscing of my last journey over to Patagonia. This image, was the last shot I took on a crazy morning where the light went off for a good two hours. Seriously so good.

Tres Torres.

The hike up here is pretty strenuous. Its a good old fashioned scramble up from base camp (pretty much straight up for about 300-400m). But what you get when you get there is worth every drop of sweat. A damn sweet reward.

This is the last shot my little stopper ever took before it crashed into the rocks below. Dang.

The Fitz Roy Range.

Patagonia, there's something about this place. Its rugged and breathtakingly beautiful. I was happily content camping out here for most of a month, away from lifes dramas and the rat race. This was one of those crazy sunsets that only pops up once in a while. It was a bit of a belter.

Cerro Torre under the cover of darkness. I have a bit of a small affinity with this place. It is breathtaking when you see that spite poking into the sky. But that's probably due to not being able to see it too often. Have a great week everyone!

Mt Field National Park celebrated its 100th year of operation today. Along with Freycinet NP! Thanks to all the National parks (here and abroad) for keeping these amazing areas around for us to adventure in!
