Our analogue photographer of the month Celeste Fontein shares her photographs, process and thoughts with us.

An excerpt from our interview -
We keep bumping into each other at local photography events! What events have stood out to you? What do you like about them?
The creative community in Pōneke is small, but it’s a constant source of inspiration for me. People are so generous with sharing knowledge and resources. Whether it’s a studio opening, photo walk, or potluck slideshow, I’m always grateful for the time and energy organisers and sponsors (like Splendid) put into bringing people together. Not only through photos, but through kai and friendship too. It sounds cheesy, but I really do think people feel safe to contribute their own magic and passion here. We’re so lucky!

Excerpt from our analogue photographer of the month interview with Kus -
“What is your favourite thing to photograph?

People, emotion, and threes.

My practice has been leaning into the imperfections that often come with film (original, right?), and using them to encase the love and moments around me. That often ends up being people, animals (usually of the domestic variety) and rarely landscapes. I think of it as just street photography of my community.

The real joy however, comes from the curation afterwards, stripping every roll down to 10 photos helps me understand the moments in time that each roll reflects.”
