I was chatting with Joanie* who was scrinching her face up SO HARD at the thought of showing up online.
First, you gotta know Joanie is a total baddie in her biz, and her clients adore the s**z outta her.

But Joanie's struggling with two things:
1. She wants to grow her biz and knows she needs to show up way more
BUT!
2. She worries it would look super vain if she became more visible.

Can you relate?
It's so frustrating, right?
We grew up hearing about tall poppies (aka successful people) being a bad thing, and that the smaller a woman is the more acceptable.

Frus.Tra.Ting.

Because of my roles especially in brand photography and hosting groups of businesswomen, I'm uniquely positioned to see woman after woman shying away from the opportunities they would be incredible at.
Because they're afraid to step out of their comfort zone.

I'm kinda getting to the end of my tether with this.
I think I'm going to have to step the heck up myself and do something about it.

Because Joanie - and YOU - deserve those opportunities.
And your future clients deserve to know you exist.
Aaaand your business that you built because you believe in what you do so hecking much deserves to grow.

I was really lucky to get to spend the last couple of days with my Nan before she passed in the wee hours this morning, ...

I was really lucky to get to spend the last couple of days with my Nan before she passed in the wee hours this morning, Saturday 30 May.

It's incredibly sad times right now, as our Nan was the Best and so loved.

The team at the hospital in New Plymouth were so amazing and kind and supportive and gave her the most comfortable final days they could.

They even moved Nan into their biggest room, as family piled in to spend that precious time with her, together, sharing memories, laughter, tears, and even an evening playing her favourite music (including this song).
We know she loved that.

Reaching a very impressive and grand 98, she's leaving this world having made such a positive impression on so many lives.

This photo was from a few years ago. I was really sick with autoimmune issues and a horrible time in my life that I can see in myself here - but I'm so grateful to have this photo of the two of us. She hated having her photo taken, but knew it meant a lot. That smile and twinkle in her eye means everything.

Goodbye Nan and rest in peace now 💕💕💕
