Shesh & Ria's Makara wedding was amazing. Makara Church & Hall is such a great venue for a DIY wedding. These two created so much of their day themselves. The labour of love that is drying orange slices in your home and stringing them into garlands. Self-catering pies and salads for a delicious dinner. Ria's mum making all the bouquets & flower arrangements. Regaling the tale of their guelling hike/ proposal story.
A day focused on celebrating with friends and family, and the beginning of everything still to come in their life together.
Shesh & Ria had this vision of epic couple photos at sunset on Makara hill overlooking the Cook Strait. The reality of having to leave their own wedding for a significant amount of time to achieve this meant that a couple of weeks after their wedding... after the family staying with them had trickled away, they got all dressed up again in their wedding clothes and we hiked up Makara hill for a sunset so perfect we had planned it. No time pressures to get back to the wedding, no guilt that you invited all your favourites and then ditched them for a photoshoot. Instead another beautiful chapter to their wedding, and stunning figures in the landscape art for their walls.
“Thank you for all the beautiful photos. I've spent countless hours pouring over them again and again reliving the day. It's so special to have these memories of the wedding, and captured in such a candid way! And thank you for indulging our desire to walk to the top of the hills in Makara - those photos are some of our favourites and we're really glad we decided to go ahead with it!”
If you want a photographer that is fully onboard with realising your vision, and will climb up hills covered in cameras for you, I still have some dates left for summer 2027, early birds for summer 27/28 get in touch! Link in bio to enquire.
