What a fun night, yesterday! Although is damn cold and a tired morning. We damn glad we kept hunting!

We almost gave up when realized Christchurch is covered by cloud, luckily we made our mind and did a spontaneous trip to Castle hill.

This is a very special event. Huge moon and clear Milky Way! 🙌 only will happen on

How’s everyone hunt goes?
Here’s mine!!!

Is been too long for me to head out at night for shooting, it’s felt fresh but not healthy at the next day morning 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is a very rare event that when the full eclipse event happen, the sky darker and brighter up the Milky Way! (Last photos was blend in with 2 exposure) it seem like the kiwi galactic is playing with the Blood Moon!

*** is really hard to take these photos. Took over 70 photos and only few is sharp enough. I been trying to take this kinda shots since..........4 years ago... I flew so many times in a year, and always can’t make it. Sometimes because of moonlight, wrong seat, and when is no moonlight and right seat, I just don’t have enough time to explore and experiment. Beside that, another reason is reflection from the window, I used pillow, blanket just to cover the reflection at the same time my hand need to hold the focus ring and press the shutter. Not to mention the cabin need to turn off their lights as well. Also, air turbulence......that make you really hard to take a sharp photos...

Recently, I’ve won the Harry Williams Astrophotography Award with this photo. “Princess Aurora dancing under the Milky Way. This photo is taken on 23/04/2017. There’s 45 panorama shots stitched with photoshop, and edited with Lightroom. Each photos shot with 30sec, 2.8f, ISO3200. 15 shots x 3 rows, Nikon D810, Samyang14mm. Love the comments from the judge Phil Plait.

“This photo has it all: A spectacular Milky Way arched across the wide-field sky, an aurora under it, and a lovely foreground. The two-toned aurora paralleling the Milky Way is breathtaking, and the LMC and SMC under the arch, punctuating the center of the image? Come on. Jaw-dropping. “

“All three category winners are simply gorgeous photos, but for overall winner I had to give it to Gan Chun Haw. It appeals to the astronomer with its magnificent view of our galaxy and its satellites; to the photographer due to the technical nature of getting the individual frames and stitching them together seamlessly; and mostly to the artist, because the stunning beauty of this image — the color contrast, the symmetric arches, the moody foreground — cannot be denied."

Is been awhile I update any new status in my social media. Been busy at work and fighting for better journey. Life is good here, and we both still trying to settle down in this new city. Trying to balance my work life and personal life. But we getting there. Just can’t wait for our next coming trip! Work hard and play hard soon! 😍

our trip at Niue! The Kings cave!
Back in Niue history when there is a system of kings to rule the villages, Avaiki cave has two swimming pools. A pool for the servants and a reserve pool for the kings only to have their royal bath. Inside the kings cave are amazing formation of stalactite that look like statues or sculptor to decorate the kings royal bathe cave.

Miss this place sooooo much!!!

Aurora Australis @ Wellington : 01/09/2019 : 1923

1st day of Spring! She is back and strong just for a few minutes. Got ready since 6pm at the spot. But last minutes when she’s here... only managed to get a couple of lucky shots of the beam... nothing massive compare to the south. But happy enough!

Wind was strong...(WLG...🌬🙄) and the wave was insanely massive. Not helping when you rushing to compose your shot and the sound of the wave hitting the rocks felt like its coming to you! 😂 the pressure...🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyway...chill at the spot with the massive wind for 2 more hours...she didn’t come back, and the sky slowly covered by the cloud...😩🥺

I believe the timelapse will be awesome, the sky was so busy with the air traffic and a ferry passed by. Can’t wait to compile that! Stay tune!
