In the Pisco Valley on the Nazca Plateau in Peru, there's a series of over 5,000 man sized holes that run up a hill and continue for 1.5 kilometers. NO ONE knows who built them or why. Some say there were graves, defensive military positions, for food storage, or as a way to measure produce given to the Inca state as a tribute.

Extenso sitio arqueológico en Ate, Peru. La fundación de la ciudad fue entre los años 600 a 730 por la cultura Lima. Luego, trras un período de abandono se produce una reocupación con la cultura Ychsma, posiblemente a partir del año 1000.

Fortress of Paramonga / Fortaleza De Paramonga

Thought to have been originally built by Chimu culture, possibly as a military structure, between the 12th and 15th century. Later, it was incorporated and modified by the Incas, after the Chimu refused to submit to the Inca expansion.
