Hace unos meses, siguiendo nuestra aventura por la Amazonía peruana junto a Romi y Kartiki, visitamos Muyuna Lodge, en la llanura amazónica norte del Perú.
Días de exploración por los ríos y quebradas intentando descubrir la mayor cantidad de fauna entre la densa vegetación.
Esto es un poquito de lo que pude capturar, gracias Muyuna Lodge por la maravillosa experiencia.

A few months ago, kartikigonsalves and .wild and I had the privilege of visiting a beautiful place in the middle of the Amazonian rainforest of Peru, . We spent days filled with boat rides discovering the rich diversity of wildlife among the dense forest around. Here is a small collection of what we saw. Thanks Muyuna!!

Prince es un jaguar al que le arrebataron su esencia salvaje. Desde cachorro y durante 15 años, vivió confinado en una pequeña jaula de cemento, sin la posibilidad de cazar o marcar su territorio, sin sentir el bosque en sus patas.
En 2024, gracias al trabajo conjunto del Gobierno Regional de Loreto (GERFOR), SUNAT y la ONG Panthera, fue rescatado de esa cruel realidad y trasladado al centro de rescate Pilpintuwasi, donde finalmente pudo recibir una vida más digna.
Desde su llegada allí se esfuerzan por mantenerlo activo y bien alimentado, ya que, lamentablemente, debido a su historia de cautiverio, Prince nunca podrá regresar a la selva.
Su historia inspiró la creación del Festival del Jaguar, una iniciativa que busca generar empatía y conciencia sobre la importancia ecológica y cultural de los jaguares en nuestro ecosistema.
Hace unos días, acompañamos al equipo veterinario del centro y a Priscila, médico veterinaria y directora del Festival, durante un control sanitario a Prince. A un año de su rescate, era fundamental evaluar su estado de salud, para lo cual fue necesario anestesiarlo, tomarle muestras de sangre y realizarle una ecografía. Los resultados fueron alentadores: Prince ha ganado peso y se encuentra en buen estado de salud.
🇬🇧 Prince is a jaguar whose wild essence was robbed of him. From a cub, for 15 years, he lived confined in a small cement cage, unable to hunt or mark his territory, unable to feel the forest in his paws.
In 2024, thanks to the collaborative work of many institutions, he was rescued from this cruel reality and transferred to the Pilpintuwasi rescue center, where he was finally able to enjoy a more dignified life.
Since his arrival, the team has worked to keep him active and well-fed. Unfortunately, due to his history of captivity, Prince will never be able to return to the forest.
His story inspired the creation of the Jaguar Festival, an initiative that seeks to generate empathy and awareness about the ecological and cultural importance of jaguars in our ecosystem.
A few days ago, we accompanied the center's team and Priscila, veterinarian and director of the Festival, during a health check after one year of his rescue.

2025 Sharjah🇦🇪 My first intl expo!
🇬🇧Flow of Resilience, reflecting the beautiful way Amazonian communities face everyday difficulties with joy and firmness, was open to all who attended this magnificent event, and I was also able to speak briefly about it for some radio and television media.
A wonderful experience thanks to a long list of actions and achievements that followed one another like dominos. Thanks to , who matched me with Britta Jaschinski. Without her vision and perseverance, none of this would have been possible.
7 full days of events, all centered around our passion: photography, of all categories and from all over the world, in a place so foreign to me, traveling from my Amazon rainforest to the Arabian Desert.
Being surrounded by great representatives of this profession was the most inspiring, but being able to connect with some of them was the most valuable and is just another push to feel that I'm on the right path and that I will continue my projects focused on the Amazon and indigenous peoples around the world. Furthermore, it is possible to be and live as a professional photographer from Tarapoto, Peru.......
🇪🇸Flow of Resilience, reflejando la hermosa manera en que las comunidades amazonicas enfrentan las dificultades del día a día con alegría y firmeza; estuvo abierta para todos los que asistieron al evento y de la que pude hablar un poco también para algunos medios de radio y televisión.
Una magnífica experiencia gracias a una larga lista de acciones y logros que se fueron sucediendo como un dominó, gracias a Vital Impacts y la mentoría de Britta Jaschinski, sin su visión y perseverancia, nada de esto hubiera sido posible.
7 días de eventos, todos alrededor de nuestra pasión, fotografía, de todas las categorias y de todo el mundo, en un lugar tan ajeno para mí, yendo desde mi selva amazónica hasta el desierto arábico.
Estar rodeado de grandes representantes de esta profesión fue lo más inspirador, pero poder conectar con algunos fue lo más valioso y solo es un impulso más para sentir que voy en el camino correcto. Pero sobretodo que es podible ser fotógrafo profesional desde Tarapoto, Perú 🇵🇪

My 2024

1. It started right after visiting the wonderful Tambopata Research Center, thanks to RFE
2,3,4. I was able to relive the dream of being in the Galapagos Islands for the second consecutive year, thanks to iLCP and Jocotoco to continue documenting the Floreana Ecological Restoration Project, witnessing the great effort that everyone there makes to ensure success in the regeneration of these affected ecosystems.
5. I returned again (I've already lost count) to the place that made me fall in love with nature, Cordillera Azul National Park (PNCAZ) thanks to CIMA
6,7. I accompanied members of a unique indigenous hunting organization in Puerto Nariño - Colombia, together with the team from the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) of Kyoto University, to explore and perhaps propose empathetic solutions to the difficult situation of human-wild animal interactions.
8,9. I also had the good fortune to photograph artisan women from local and indigenous associations in my region, whose work generates them new opportunities for development. Thanks to ECOAN and AMEDBAM and to Claudia and Warmi Awadora.
10,11,12. I attended for the first time a large event on video and documentary production in Bristol, UK, the Wildscreen Festival, which also coincided with an in-person meeting with many members of iLCP. I was also able to visit Stonehenge (the English Machu Picchu) in passing.
13,14. It was also my first time as an official assistant to a photographer for a Natgeo project documenting the guano birds of the Peruvian coast, which were so important in our origins as a republic and today face serious threats, thanks to Morgan Heim for the magnificent opportunity.
15,16. And now, continuing with the project together with RIHN, I find myself in the jungles of Cameroon where I will welcome the new year, my first time on the African continent, learning about the experiences of members of the Baka ethnic group in their relationship with their environment.
17. We will see what new adventures this 2025 brings us, and I say goodbye with this image of Tambopata, just to remind you that even in the darkest moments, with patience, we can find some light.

🇪🇸 Un poco de lo que vi en Floreana, Galápagos en mi primer viaje en octubre de 2023: si bien el proyecto Floreana se encarga de erradicar especies invasoras y restaurar el ecosistema para la posterior reinserción de fauna extinta que habitaba esta isla (que se traerá de otras), aproveché los cortos momentos entre las salidas de campo para capturar la fabulosa fauna silvestre que aún habita la isla, como pueden ver es todo marítimo y costero, ya que el impacto de las especies invasoras es terrible con las especies terrestres como una especie de tortuga gigante que desapareció de aquí.

🇬🇧 A little bit of what I saw in Floreana, Galapagos on my first trip in October 2023: although the Floreana project is responsible for the eradication of invasive species and restoring the ecosystem for the subsequent reinsertion of extinct fauna that inhabited this island (will be brought from other islands), I seized the shorts moments between field trips to capture the fabulous wild fauna that still inhabits the island, as you can see, it is all maritime and coastal, since the impact of invasive species is terrible with terrestrial species such as a species of giant turtle that disappeared from here.
