π KOMAVAVO VILLAGE | TALASEA | WEST NEW BRITAIN PROVINCE
The afternoon sun cast a warm golden glow over the quiet coastal village. Down on the sandy shoreline, two friends were walked through the gentle, rolling waves. Each carried a simple, hand-carved bamboo rod with a thin line swaying in the salty breeze. They found their favorite spot near a cluster of smooth, dark rocks where the water was calm and clear. One carefully baited his hook, while other pointed out a school of tiny silver fish darting through the shallows. They stqnd on a nearby log, keeping a close eye on the plastic bucket they brought to hold their catch. For an hour, they stood patiently as the tide lapped against their ankles. Suddenly, the boy line tugged hard."I got one!" he cheered, pulling back with all his strength. With a bright splash, a small, shimmering blue trevally broke through the surface. Other boy helped guide it safely ashore, and both clapped enthusiastically as they placed it into the bucket. By the time the sun began to sink below the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of orange and purple, they had caught three fishβjust enough for a fresh family dinner. Laughing and sharing stories of the day, the children walked back up the beach toward the welcoming lights of their village homes.
