The Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority recognised the crucial role women play in shaping the health sector during its first open-air celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event marked the first time EHPHA hosted an outdoor celebration, bringing together women from its directorates who were nominated and awarded certificates of recognition. Twenty-four women received awards under three categories: Leadership Excellence, Academic Excellence, and Long Service.

The celebration was held in line with the International Women’s Day theme, 'Strengthening Women, Protecting Rights, Building Papua New Guinea.'

Community representative Jean Jano encouraged women to support and uplift one another, stressing the importance of unity among women. “Be proud that you’re a woman,” Jano firmly told the women in attendance.

Senior Inspector Ben Neno echoed the message and called on men to respect women and do the right thing in their daily lives.

The valuable activities on the day were hosted by the EHPHA team and concluded with light refreshments and entertainment.

The expo connects communities; engaging directly with local entrepreneurs, artists, and tourism professionals allows our team and students to ground their work in the real stories and economic drivers of PNG.

It is in GIVING that we RECEIVE (St. Francis of Assisi)

At LAKE Media, we embody our values by investing in institutions and communities where our journeys began.

On August 25, our Madang team donated two professional video lights and accessories to the Divine Word University Communication Arts Department. Head of Department, Patrick Matbob, and TV Lecturer David Wapar received the items and expressed their gratitude to the business for the much needed support.

The Bi-Colour LED lights are industry standard and will improve the quality and production aesthetic in video, photography, and other content creation which will prepare them for the workforce and more importantly, have the basic skills to build on later in their career or business.

The supply of these assets comes a year after our team installed studio carpet tiles in the green room studio with support of Communication Arts Alumni. We urge former CA students to reach out through Mr Matbob or connect with us here to collaborate in raising the facilities and learning to world-class standards.

We're still reflecting on the powerful stories shared at the DWU 2025 Alumni Awards held on August 21.

This year's incredible recipients were Eddie Tanago and Josiah Pup.

Eddie moved us by dedicating his award to the brave land and human rights defenders on the frontlines, proving that impact is about the issue, not the individual.

Josiah inspired us by explaining how a simple question, "What can I do for my country?" led him to create businesses that uplifts and add value to his community and others.

These stories remind us to be purpose-driven and to use our platforms to elevate the issues that affect the lives of many.

The 2025 Goroka Flower Show was an absolute delight! 🌸✨

Held over two vibrant days (June 20–21), the event highlighted the incredible floriculture talents of Goroka! From stunning floral displays to creative stall designs, the show was a true celebration of passion and artistry.

Hosted by the Goroka Show Committee as a lead-up to the main Goroka Show in September, the event welcomed participants not just from the Eastern Highlands but from other provinces as well. It was a beautiful platform for creativity, community, and a little friendly competition; with prizes awarded for the most creative presentations 💐
