⚠️ DANGER IN THE PACIFIC, PNG MUST GET READY 🇵🇬
A big danger is slowly moving toward the Pacific. It is not a bomb, and it is not COVID-19 that hits fast. It is called El Niño. You won’t see it coming like a storm, but when it arrives it will test every family, every village, and every province in PNG.
The dry season will continue for some months. Weather experts are warning that rain will be less and heat will be stronger. Rivers will drop, water tanks will empty, and the ground will crack. This is how El Niño starts slow, quiet, but dangerous.
El Niño brings drought, no rain, and empty water sources. Crops will die in the ground. Food gardens will fail. Markets will run short on food. With no water and no food, sickness spreads fast and money problems hit every home. Whole communities can suffer for months, not days.
History already warned us. In the 1800s, strong El Niño events caused long droughts and famine. About 30 to 60 million people died worldwide because there was no food and no water. Back then the world population was small. If a strong El Niño comes today with 8 billion people, the damage in PNG will be much worse.
PNG cannot stop El Niño, but PNG can prepare. This is not the time for politics or blame. This is the time for action. We must build more water tanks, dig wells and boreholes, grow food in greenhouses and drought-resistant gardens, store dry food, and teach our people water conservation. Churches, schools, businesses, and government must work together now, before the rain stops.
Time is running out. The signs and warnings are already here. The dry months ahead will make things harder if we wait. Let’s prepare now while we still have water. Let’s protect our children, our elders, and our land. PNG must get ready.
