The Waiwa Culture Show was successfully held from 23–24 May 2026 at the Waiwa Primary School Grounds in Oro Bay East LLG, Popondetta District. The event brought together participants from Wards 1–6, Sangara Hurundi LLG and Sauga showcasing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, songs, dances and customs of the Waiwa people.

Community members expressed their joy and appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate and preserve their cultural identity. Many acknowledged that such an event had been long awaited and viewed it as an important pathway for passing cultural knowledge and values on to future generations.

The success of the show was made possible through the support of the Popondetta District Administration, Popondetta MP Hon. Richard Masere and the National Cultural Commission whose contributions helped ensure a memorable and meaningful event for the people of Popondetta District.

The Waiwa Culture Show not only strengthened community unity but also reaffirmed the importance of preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritage of the region for generations to come.

A vibrant celebration of culture, identity and tradition. The event was supported by Popondetta District and National Cultural Commission.

The Koipa Cultural Group of Higaturu LLG, Sohe District proudly presents the traditional clay pot cooking practices of our ancestors in Northern Province. This demonstration showcases Indigenous knowledge, traditional food preparation methods and the cultural values that have been passed down through generations. Through preserving and sharing these customs, we celebrate our heritage and strengthen our cultural identity for the benefit of future generations.

The group encourages young people to learn and respect their cultural heritage while working together with community leaders and elders to protect and preserve the traditions of Koipa Village for generations to come.
