A U.S. C-146 Wolfhound has touched down at the by pass road in barangay Balligi, Laoac, Pangasinan before noon Tuesday(24 february). The Alternate Landing Zone(ALZ) activity was conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines(AFP) with the United State Special Tactics Team in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government(DILG)-Pangasinan.The activity aims to train and prepare AFP personnel in conducting aircraft landings on highways and road networks nationwide in support of future Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief(HADR) operations, emergency response scenarios, and national defense requirements. This event marks the first time in the Philippines that a US aircraft conducted an actual landing on a Philippine highway. The Accelerating Salt Research and Innovation(ASIN) Center, the country’s first-ever research and development center on salt, was formally inaugurated on last February 17 at the Pangasinan State University(PSU) campus in Binmaley, Pangasinan. Science and technology secretary Renato Solidum and Dr.Elbert Galas, PSU president, led in the inauguration of the said building which was established by theDOST’ Niche Centers in the Regions for Research and Development(NICER) Program. The DOST funded the project with P93-M and a counterpart of P22-M from the PSU. The center serves as a strategic center for salt-related research and development, with the goal of achieving national salt self-sufficiency, modernizing traditional production systems, and promoting climate resilient sustainable practices. The program is implemented in collaboration with
