The Accelerating Salt Research and Innovation(ASIN) Center, the country’s first-ever research and development center on salt, was formally inaugurated on last February 17 at the Pangasinan State University(PSU) campus in Binmaley, Pangasinan. Science and technology secretary Renato Solidum and Dr.Elbert Galas, PSU president, led in the inauguration of the said building which was established by theDOST’ Niche Centers in the Regions for Research and Development(NICER) Program. The DOST funded the project with P93-M and a counterpart of P22-M from the PSU. The center serves as a strategic center for salt-related research and development, with the goal of achieving national salt self-sufficiency, modernizing traditional production systems, and promoting climate resilient sustainable practices.
