Volunteer coaches, especially in the province, may never become famous, but their impact can last generations.
Dear Coaches,
As a parent and a coach, I have learned that volunteer coaching especially in the province is never easy. Many of us train children on uneven fields, borrowed spaces, covered courts, or open grounds with limited equipment.
Some buy cones, balls, or snacks using personal money. Some travel far after work, carrying fatigue but still showing up because children are waiting.
The reality is, grassroots football in many towns survives not because of big funding or modern facilities — it survives because coaches choose not to give up.
Always remember: to many young athletes, we are more than coaches.
👉 We become listeners when they struggle.
👉 We become encouragers when they lose confidence.
👉We become disciplinarians when they need guidance.
👉Sometimes, we become the second parent they need.
Not every child we train will become a professional footballer. But through football, they may become
✅️disciplined adults,
✅️respectful individuals,
✅️resilient workers,
✅️responsible fathers, mothers, and
✅️citizens who know teamwork, sacrifice, and perseverance.
That is impact beyond trophies.
There will be days when progress feels slow. Days when few athletes attend. Days when support is lacking. Days when people question why we continue.
But imagine our communities without grassroots coaches.🤔
➡️Who will teach children healthy competition?
➡️Who will pull them away from destructive habits?
➡️Who will show them that hard work, patience, and respect matter?
➡️Who will keep football alive in small towns where dreams are often limited by opportunity?
Many young athletes continue believing because one coach kept showing up.
So to every grassroots coach quietly serving in the provinces:
🔰Your effort matters.
🔰Your sacrifices matter.
🔰Your patience matters.
🔰Your presence matters.
You may not always receive recognition, but somewhere in the future, a child you mentored will remember the coach who believed in them before anyone else did.
👍Keep building.
👍Keep teaching.
👍Keep inspiring.
Because developing football is not only about creating good players — it is about helping shape better people and stronger communities.
Maraming salamat sa lahat ng grassroots coaches ng Pilipinas. Mabuhay kayo.🫡
May God continue to give us strength as we guide the next generation. ⚽❤️🇵🇭
