DINAGYANG FESTIVAL

The festival is a religious and cultural festival in Ilo-Ilo City which was started in year 1968 and was originate from the Ati-Atihan Festival.Dinagyang came from the word "dagyang" illonggo word means merrymaking . It traces the history of devotion to the Holy Child Jesus popularly known to Filipino devotees as Sr. Sto. Nino. The festival also commemorates the arrival of the Malay settlers and the legendary barter of Panay Island from the natives called called Ati.
The festival is the portrayal and depiction of the way of life of the Ilonggo aborigines which goes beyond the mere use of the bow, arrow, spear and shield.

M A S S K A R A F E S T I V A L | 2024

The Masskara Festival began in 1980, a response to a period of crisis for Bacolod City. The local community faced a sugar industry crisis coupled with the tragic sinking of the MV Don Juan ferry, which claimed the lives of many Negrenses.
The term “Masskara” is a fusion of the English word ‘mask’ and the Filipino word ‘cara,’ meaning face – a nod to the masks adorned with smiles that epitomize the festival’s ethos.
This is celebrated every 4th Sunday of October.

Located at the foot of Mt.Kanlaon at the Municipality of Murcia 32km away from Bacolod City. Way back 1972 Japanese Architect Ishiwata started to establish the resort but as a bathhouse and a garden. The original bathhouse still stands as the so-called Japanese Ofuro.

The resort has 2 big pools, a sulfur pool and the Japanese Ofuro. So many changes had been made and lost, currently the famous butterfly garden was not operating, the falls close for the meantime but you still get to enjoy the bat watching and bird watching also some butterflies roaming around the resort.

Mambukal now has convention Hotel, spa and food park.
