We are the granddaughters of the witches and warriors of our land.
We are the children of the guardians of culture.
We are the line of women of color.
We are strong.
We are are invincible.
We are one.

A little backstory by Nicole:
One day, Krizza and I were walking along session road discussing how we both grew up being criticized for being brown or darker skinned than most girls. As an advocate for body positivity, I believe in the importance of being body positive in all aspects, including the color of my skin.
In line with the fact that brown-skinned citizens are treated differently from people with lighter skin, we wanted to come up with a way to display the beauty of being brown and how thereโs not just one shade of brown; with that, the Morena Series was born.
It was so fun to find Hameedat, Amal, and Nebula because while the shoot was pretty impromptu, we were able to display just how beautiful their skin is, and how we shouldnโt treat beauty as just black and white.
With this, I hope weโre able to hold more of this series so that we can show other girls that they are beautiful, even if theyโre not actively represented on media.
