Happy Mother’s Day to all the strong and hardworking mothers, especially to our Igorot mothers and the women of Isamoki. 🌸❤️

“Taerp” or “Taep” is the traditional way of cleaning rice before cooking. Women carefully remove small trash from the milled rice like stalks from the palay and “inpolin” or unhusked rice. This makes the rice clean, safe, and ready to cook. This simple work shows the patience, care, and hardworking nature of Igorot women, especially the women of Isamoki.

So if you are looking for a woman to marry… find an Isamoki woman. Or better yet, find me. 😆❤️

“Tachek,” or the beating of gongs, is a traditional ritual performed by elders together with “ayeng” or ritual chants, accompanied by a “tuunan” and “tapey.” It is customarily conducted whenever the gongs of the “ato” are brought out for use. The chants differ according to the occasion or purpose of the gathering, reflecting the cultural practices and beliefs of the community. Despite these differences, the ritual commonly serves as a way of seeking blessings, guidance, protection, and strength from Lumawig.
