This engagement session for Pixel Lab started at the school where the bride works, way out in the boonies of Masinloc. After that, she gave us the freedom to choose the next location, so I decided on local museum called, Sambalikha Art Cafe in Botolan. If you haven't been, I highly recommend it—they have an exhibit by local artist JaJa Bautista on display until November 12. All in all, very easy couple to work with this day, every photographers dream. Hope your enjoying these updates since I have some extra time before the December chaos begins.

Love amazes me so much that I have it tattooed on my wrist (in Sanskrit), which is literally my only ink. It can be both complex and simple. In my opinion, if we all focused on spreading love despite our differences, we’d create an oasis of peace and understanding. I deeply respect those who achieve the highest peaks of love, especially reaching that golden level. I recently did a golden wedding pre-shoot for a family that has shown me so much love here in the Philippines. They were among my first clients, trusting me with their family’s memories when I was just starting out in photography. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today.

Given their age, it was important to wrap up the shoot quickly, since I already sensed they wanted to get it done posthaste. They were actually hesitant with doing a pre-pictorial at first, but with a little persuasion from their family and I, they agreed. The session had to be simple since moving them around the resort wasn’t feasible. I ended up realizing that the drive took longer than the actual session, which lasted less than an hour. Nonetheless, I’m glad I could capture another special moment for them and wish their family everlasting love and health. See you soon. Enjoy!

Just sharing a pre-debut shoot from a few weeks ago at D'Farm, since her debut is coming up soon. When we arrived, it was pouring rain, and thought we might have to cancel, but we seized the opportunity whenever the rain let up. What she envisioned was a dreamy garden morning look in much of her session, but it was challenging due to the lack of sun and the need to shoot mostly under cover. Achieving that vision would require some technical Photoshop magic, but I'm not an expert in photo manipulation and is just not my fortay as a photographer. So we just had to improvise and go with the flow of mother nature and what the resort had to offer. My style actually leans more towards minimal editing, natural light, and a filmic ambiance, capturing the essence of the moment and place. Despite the challenge, I think these photos strike a good balance between some of her vision and my style in photography. In any case, you can agree to disagree. hehe What do you think? Enjoy.

Chilled out Sunday at KALINTO, soaking up the vibes with Classic Negative. It's a favorite film sim among Fujifilm users for a reason. I love Fujifilm because the shots come out great straight out of camera (SOOC). But for the perfectionists out there like myself, a quick transfer to the tablet, some minor tweaks in Lightroom, and now you're all set to share your vision. Stay Blessed.

I've always wondered why when invited on a yacht excursion in the Philippines, there is an unwritten rule requiring you to wear white attire. It’s almost like a mandatory dress code to avoid looking like an oddball. Just a thought. haha. Anyway, this Subic yacht trip was pretty much a go, rain or shine, and it ended up being mostly the former. Instead of sharing photos of my clients in white, I'll show some of the unpredictable weather and night reflections. Throughout most of this voyage, the rain clouds would gather intensely, only to let up suddenly, revealing glimpses of something quite magical. Wish I would have taken more personal photos, but obviously I was on the clock. Enjoy.

Juggling a passion for photography while disliking social media is always a challenge. I often find myself conflicted about whether to keep my photos private or share them with the world. That's why updates here are infrequent. Anyway, tonight feels like one of those nights where it would be a waste not to share some photos of Zambales' beautiful skies, taken with my new XT5. Whether sunny or gloomy, these shots remind me to appreciate every day. Fun Fact: I took all these photos while driving—not something I'd recommend, but I managed to do so with one hand, which I suppose is a bit safer, thanks to Aperture-Priority and the XT5's great button customization. Enjoy!

Apologies for the delay in updates, but we have an upcoming Seventh alert! We recently had another Seventh Birthday session that took place at Poggio Bustone Renewal Center, a charming location perfect for clients seeking a princess-like ambiance in the Zambales area. Although this pre-seventh photoshoot didn’t go exactly as planned, again hehe, we sufficed and captured some delightful smiles during the first 10 minutes of each outfit. 😄 Despite Snow’s emotional roller coaster, she deserved a refreshing dip in the resort’s pool once we wrapped up and ,And honestly, with this scorching heat, I might just join her! Stay cool, everyone! 😎

Looking forward to seeing you again on May 5th, Princess Snow! 🎉👑

Many parents underestimate the challenges of photographing children, regardless of their age. One moment, they may willingly strike poses for the camera, and the next, they’re completely uncooperative. Attempts to bribe them with Jollibee meals or toys often yield little success. As someone with firsthand experience, I’ve encountered this struggle with my own daughter. Unlike my wife, who can take hundreds of photos and still crave more, my daughter dislikes forced photo sessions.

However, there’s nothing quite like capturing a child’s genuine smile and laughter during a photo shoot. Building trust with a child is crucial for a successful session. As a photographer, it helps to imagine yourself in the child’s shoes and adapt accordingly. Sometimes, posing doesn’t work, so allowing them to explore and capturing candid, comfortable moments can lead to the best results.

Let me share a recent experience. During Xiamara’s pre-7th birthday shoot, she initially posed beautifully. However, less than an hour in, her mood shifted. Rather than letting it discourage me, I gave her short breaks between shots. Xiamara excelled at posing in brief spurts, so I avoided dragging out the session. Despite our limited time, I embraced a “less is more” approach and was pleased with the outcome, considering the circumstances.

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to House Of Basil By Kusina Ni Kumare for graciously allowing us to shoot at their delightful restaurant at such late notice. Located in San Juan, Botolan (just before entering Botolan Zoo), this al fresco eatery offers a unique selection of savory dishes—a perfect spot for family gatherings and romantic dining. 📸🍽️

Although it wasn’t my first yacht photography experience, this marked my first engagement session aboard one. During this sunrise voyage, the couple opted for dual photographers, and I made the decision to shoot from the wider perspective, between the two us. Armed with my brand-new Viltrox 13mm 1.4 lens, which I had received just the day before, I was eager to put it to the test since Viltrox has been beasting out with great quality lenses, especially their PRO line. The timing was impeccable, despite not being on a massive yacht, I managed to capture the expansive feeling of being on the open sea.

After the yacht ride, we found ourselves without a concrete plan, so we followed our instincts and wandered around Subic. The couple was completely on board with this spontaneous approach, and the results were fantastic—we even snagged a shot at the Eiffel Tower. haha The bride-to-be, Madilyn, happens to be a friend of my wife’s. She booked her wedding with us over a year ago, and now, as time flies, her big day is just around the corner, scheduled for March 6th.

By the way, if any of you are in the mood for some self-indulgence, I recommend checking out Statuesque Wellness Spa, Madilyn’s wellness spa located just behind the Bank of Commerce in Iba. And if you’re curious about her work, feel free to stalk my page for pictures of the wifey. Anyway, happy sailing through this session!

Commencing my inaugural pre-debut shoot for 2024 was unexpected, given its last-minute booking and when faced with urgent location needs, our go-to choice 90% of the time is Maragaha Campsite, also known as Tropical Resort for all the OG photographers. Nestled in Botolan, this hidden gem offers a beach vibe without the hefty entrance fees. Amidst bamboo cottages, pine trees, and other natural amenities, you can effortlessly discover picturesque spots to begin a photo session. That with the campsites’s secluded shores provide the perfect backdrop for sunset shots, free from interference by other beachgoers.

Despite my lack of knowledge regarding the outfits my client would bring, we seamlessly transitioned through all four ensembles. It’s also a breeze, when a client already possesses an understanding of their angles and poses, making my job much smoother. I feel fortunate to have worked with such a client for the day, especially one hailing from Canada (originally from philippines). So im guessing she was okay with my Taglish. No need for translators this time. haha Feel free to peruse my photos for those seeking posing tips from her.
