Our dream of a simple, intimate wedding finally came true. After six years together, Cookie and I decided to get married in Bukidnon with just a month of planning. They say rain on your wedding day is a blessing.. well, that’s exactly how it felt cause itwas pouring that day
The ceremony was held at a chapel in Camp Fabia, Manolo Fortich, attended only by our immediate families. The chapel itself was so beautiful that Cookie personally decided not to put too much decor to preserve its beauty and simplicity.
We then shared a cozy lunch with our family and a few close friends who surprisingly dropped by after our ceremony. Every detail of our wedding was DIY - from Cookie’s dress which was custom-designed and sewn by her long-time personal seamstress, Kristine, in just a span of 2 weeks, while my barong suit was made by my good friend, Sean, down to her hair and makeup which she personally did with the assistance of her sister, Pipaw.
Every little detail was personally chosen and planned by Cookie and I, but honestly, none of it would have been possible without the huge help from our friends Kate, Jomay, Alisson, and Gboi, and Tine Libarnes, who crafted Cookie’s wedding bouquet with just very short notice.
Our wedding rings each hold a special story. Cookie’s ring was something we personally chose together, while mine carries deep sentimental value—it was made from my late father’s wedding ring. My mom had it melted and crafted into a new one just for me.
For food and the venue, Kumaykay River Farm Resort prepared an incredible feast that truly exceeded our expectations. Huge thanks to Chef JJ and his team for their warm hospitality and delicious dishes. Ofcourse we also had Iligan’s best Lechon Baka from J&L lechon baka and Jaimes lechon baboy, cause it wouldnt be a complete celebration without it. Lol
We initially set up long tables and chairs near the river, but because of the weather, we moved to Kumaykay’s shaded area instead—and it turned out just as perfect.
Every raw and heartfelt moment was captured by our talented friends and industry colleagues : Jasper Cuizon, Fervin Retardo, Jericho Natividad, and Karl Orbe.
Later that evening, we gathered few of our closest friends for a simple get together/ after-party. No program, no emcee, no script—just music, laughter, and genuine moments with the people who matter most. Everything was spontaneous and real.
Looking back, we have no regrets about how everything turned out. Despite the short preparation and the rain, it was our day, our story, and our love. We chose authenticity over glam, and it was perfect in every way.
To our family and friends, thank you for celebrating this special day with us.
