This metal from a chainsaw serves as evidence of what was left behind at Masungi before the georeserve took over and protected it from loggers. The area was once threatened by quarrying and land degradation but was saved through conservation efforts. Now, The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has canceled its agreement with Blue Star Construction Development Corp., the company behind Masungi Georeserve.
