About the Painting

This is the artist’s rendition of the Church-approved apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at La Salette, France in September 19, 1846. She appeared to Maximin Giraud and Melanie Mathieu, and gave messages that focuses on the conversion of all humanity to Christ. The "Beautiful Lady" of La Salette implores all people to "be reconciled to God."
Done on a 7 ft. by 4 ft. wood panel employing mixed media, the artist presents the Blessed Virgin Mary based on the La Salette story (lasalette.org). The whole scenery depicts the beauty of God’s creation. At the background are three mountains representing the Holy Trinity. A narrow path behind the Lady leads back to Jesus, the ‘mountain’ at the center. The nine trees at the left and the two at the right represent the nine Provinces, District and Region of the Congregation. The two small rocks at the back stands for Melanie and Maximin. They have completed their mission. The rocks at the foreground represents us as we heed Our Lady’s last words: “Well, my children, you will make this well known to all my people.”
