Storytelling photographer based in the United States since 1967, Mac Adams likes to recall his Welsh roots to explain his taste for narrative, and the impact that literature and film have had on him.

His work links him to the conceptual current developed in the 1970s and more particularly to Narrative Art.

But unlike many artists in this movement often associating image and text, Mac Adams uses photography alone to tell stories inspired by black series.

The viewer reads it thanks to the many clues set by the artist in his shots; in the series Mysteries , developed in 1974 around crime scenes, the story is never complete; only images of two or three moments of the narrative combine to evoke a plot that the viewer reconstructs mentally.

The latter is, in fact, free of his interpretation, involving his most unconscious personal projections.
